Project: Liverpool Docks Ice Cream Parlour
Sector: Leisure / Hospitality
Client: National Museums Liverpool
Truline tendered and secured the contract with National Museums Liverpool to refurbish and reconfigure part of The Pilotage Building on Liverpool’s historic waterfront. The works created a new food and beverage kiosk open to the public as part of the wider waterfront transformation.
Internal alterations included the creation of a new preparation kitchen, a bespoke external opening serving hatch, storage areas, circulation spaces and two new WC facilities.
The works included the following:
- Ceilings and stud wall construction
- Fire door installation
- Bespoke opening door hatch
- Kitchen equipment installation
- Exposed brickwork finishes
- HVAC installation
- Mechanical and electrical works
- Lighting installation
- Decoration
- Flooring
- WC installations
The bespoke hatch door was a key feature of the project. Designed to open vertically at 90 degrees, it needed to withstand the challenging wind loads experienced on the Liverpool docks while remaining durable for long-term use.
Specialist worktops made from recycled bricks from the Liverpool docks were also incorporated into the design. Due to long manufacturing lead times, Truline installed temporary worktops to allow the client to operate the kiosk while the bespoke surfaces were being produced.
“Truline were a very responsive and adaptive contractor who reacted quickly to site discoveries and were able to effectively resolve issues that arose. The delivery of the hatch has been a key part of NML waterfront transformation and Truline showed great ability in delivering this work within a difficult live environment and work within a building that is occupied.”
